Trapon, a bank employee, is in love with Mrs. Lavator, who wants to marry off her two daughters before marrying her. As one of the two fiancés of his daughters has no money, Trapon begins to embezzle sums of money in his cash box.

After studying political science in Paris, Antoine decides to go to Strasbourg to become a parliamentary assistant at the European Parliament. His motivation: to find his ex-girlfriend Cleo, who is a television editor. Half-documentary, half-fiction, with the students of the Théâtre National de Strasbourg.

This footage by JoAnn Elam was probably shot in San Francisco, where Elam spent the “Summer of Love” in 1967 and which she perhaps visited again later. First rapidly edited, the footage then slows down to focus on rows of houses, the street numbers on their façades, and their mail slots. As 37th Av. & S.F. CA and many other elements about the US Post Office in this collection evidence, what seems to have fascinated Elam about the mail was the way it circulated within neighborhoods, from one house to the next, thereby connecting the people who lived in them together. At the end, one handwritten note reads: “To be looked at one frame at a time,” some directions possibly referring to the following series of rapidly edited shots of nature and dogs running in a park.

Marie-Claude Treilhou records the thinking words, articulates their development through a series of readings or sung recitations of the poems dissected by their author. Fathoming the depths of “ecopoeticology” of Deguy, Comme si, comme ça makes up the most sober and vivid of portraits. “Without ever bragging”, as suggested by the contemporary ethics the poet formulates in the film.
