In the Orient, oil sheikhs request new girls. The relevant brothel owners realize that there is a shortage among them. They press the morse key in the direction of Europe. Their liaison men in Hamburg roam pubs and the port and procure the desired goods by kidnapping and seduction. Drugs and blackmail the desired commodity declare the whole thing as a dance tour and see the girls off at the quay. The competition of the dealers means that some of the girls do not reach their destination alive.

Pretty Girl Barbara Mededith takes over her murdered brother's crusading newspaper. She also assumes the dead sibling's identity as "The Black Whip," righting the wrongs of Crescent City very much in the manner of her famous ancestor, Zorro.

Hu Jie is a prodigious independent Chinese filmmaker who has produced and directed thirty or so documentaries. Also a master of wood engraving, Hu Jie breathes new life into the expressionist tradition of Käthe Kollwitz. In his works — including those produced in Paris for this film — Hu Jie recreates terrifying moments of organized crimes against the Chinese people during the famine of the “Great Leap Forward” and the “Cultural Revolution”. Bertrand Renaudineau’s and Gérard da Silva’s film offers Hu Jie his first chance to tell how he was a wood engraver before becoming a filmmaker; how, he freed the “soul of a young martyr”; and how his prints and documentaries have helped convey the experiences of the Chinese to people all around the world. The Swiss, born in 1928, created more than thirty fonts, including the world-famous Méridien, Univers and Frutiger type families. Less well-known are his extraordingary freely conceived works. This film is a straightforward, sensitive portrait of the designer and his work which presents Adrian Frutiger's achievements and his relationship to nature in a new way. All the cinematography is done in High Definition, stills of the well-known Swiss cameraman Pio Corradi and the music composed by famous Swiss songwriter Hanery Amman add to the very personal portrait.

This short film made by László Moholy-Nagy is based on the shadow patterns created by his Light-Space Modulator, an early kinetic sculpture consisting of a variety of curved objects in a carefully choreographed cycle of movements. Created in 1930, the film was originally planned as the sixth and final part of a much longer work depicting the new space-time.

A gorgeous bird entranced by its own beauty sings and dances all day long in the forest, not caring enough to prepare for the winter. When winter finally comes, the bird has no place to go. After a while, there is a fire, and the freezing animal wants to limber up but in the end all his colorful feathers are singed and turn black as coal. And thus the once so beautiful bird has transformed into a black crow.

Pedro (played by a white actor in blackface), a son of a former slave, leaves Cuba (where he was being mistreated for being black) to seek his fortune in Paris. While working as a bellboy at a dance club, his dancing prowess is discovered and then he goes to become a famous dancer of the Charleston in the city. He falls in love with his dancing partner, who could not stand the thought of marrying him because of his skin color.

In 2012, old friends Cas van der Pas and Hugo Meijer decided to travel to Colombia to find stories that inspired them.
