DANCING WITH DICTATORS is a film about Burma and the battle for control of a newspaper. Central to the story is Australian publisher Ross Dunkley who owns The Myanmar Times. Like all media in Myanmar the newspaper is heavily censored. The government has forced a 51% partner on Dunkley and after the first election in 20 years their enmity explodes. Dunkley is arrested and imprisoned as his Immigration charges turn into a sexual smear campaign. His partner takes control and the government moves towards ending any foreign ownership of the Burmese media.

A rich count invites a theatre troupe to his home on an isolated island... but soon people start getting murdered. Has the family curse struck again?

The twelfth shogun, Ieyoshi, embraces Oruri day and night under the care of Fujioka, a guest attendant at the O-oku. However, Fujioka's senior, Kumoi, who recommends Oseki to him, is not amused at all. The scene between Fujioka and Kumoi was symbolic of the battle between women in the O-oku. Fujioka hears from Orui that she is pregnant and rejoices that she has nothing to fear if she bears the Shogun's child. Meanwhile, Kumoi comforts Bure, who is a lesbian, and asks Oseki to help her get a call from the shogun.

In the Bellinsky family: there is Solomon the father, 80 years old, brimming with life. He is fighting not to be buried too quickly, between tap dance lessons under the high patronage of Fred Astaire and the search for a companion... The mother, Geneviève, dreams of only one thing: quietly continuing her infantilisation, with her household help, protector and guardian angel, Mr Mootoousamy.

Life as a prima ballerina over 30 is tough enough for Maiko when she decides to start a family....

An orphan boy seeks revenge upon a villainous kung-fu sect that killed his friends. He chances upon two old kung fu masters who are fighting to determine who's the better fighter; one is a drunk, the other puffs constantly on a pipe. Fei Fei convinces them to teach him kung fu, and then he'll fight using both of their techniques and will discover which is superior. So Fei Fei ends up fighting his way up the ranks of the evil sect with the two old men trailing after him, evaluating the battles and counting how many of their individual moves Fei Fei uses. The final battle with the white-haired master of the sect, using new kung fu moves inspired by dancers in a brothel, is amazingly gymnastic. --Bret Fetzer

"The Dancing Girl of Izu" tells of the story between a young male student who is touring the Izu Peninsula and a family of traveling dancers he meets there, including their youngest girl. The student finds the naïve girl attractive even though he eventually has to part with the family after spending memorable time together.
