The Greek genocide was the systematic killing of the Christian Ottoman Greek population of Anatolia which was carried out during World War I and its aftermath (1914–1922) on the basis of their religion and ethnicity. It was perpetrated by the government of the Ottoman Empire led by the Three Pashas, and the Government of the Grand National Assembly led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, against the indigenous Greek population of the Empire. The genocide included massacres, forced deportations involving death marches through the Syrian Desert, expulsions, summary executions, and the destruction of Eastern Orthodox cultural, historical, and religious monuments. Several hundred thousand Greeks died during this period. By late 1922, most of the Greeks of Asia Minor had either fled or had been killed. Those remaining were transferred to Greece under the terms of the later 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey, which formalized the exodus and barred the return of the refugees.

A chronicle of the Greek diaspora in the United States, starting from the 60s, when young Greek Americans, despite their conservative and uptight upbringing, started to embrace the flow of change in mentality. Each decade, this community assimilated staggering historical events: from the Civil Rights Movement all the way to the Michael S. Dukakis presidential nomination in 1998, a benchmark for the Greeks population in the USA. Narrated and hosted by Olympia Dukakis, this heartfelt documentary unfolds humorous and touching stories of second and third-generation immigrants, reflecting the multilayered aspects of “growing up Greek” in the USA.

In order for Greece to deal with the pervasive inequality that stems from anti-black rhetoric, Greece as a country needs to address its multicultural reality and engage in racial dialogue with its Afro Greek citizens. This can begin by acknowledging the demographic diversity in all social spheres. In this Afro Greek portraiture film, the lack of visibility and inclusion of Greeks of African descent in the dominant narrative of Greece are highlighted. Black Greeks / Afro Greeks, despite that some now have legal citizenship, are still being seen as foreigners or even referred to as immigrants in the country of their birth and upbringing.

Greker i Sverige [Greeks in Sweden] consists of a staged discussion between Greek political refugees in Sweden. Dialogue is mainly in Greek, but the first few minutes shows one of the participators giving some background to the political situation in Greece in Swedish. This historical background is also illustrated with some archival material. The film was produced for Swedish public television but was never aired.
