Life goes quietly in a traditional neighborhood of Madrid. Two beautiful girls, Susana and Casta, trade workers in the area, accepting mature attentions of a pharmacist, Don Hilarion. This affection dislike the young Julian, who is in love with Susan. Third movie version of the famous zarzuela by Tomas Breton. With musical arrangements by Gregorio Garcia Segura, the film tries to update the original story to fit the Madrid of the 60's.

Two dressmaker sisters, who live in Mrs. Rita's pension, are sought out by the old apothecary Don Hilarión. When the two decide to go to the verbena de la Paloma with the pharmacist, the boyfriend of one of them tries to prevent it. Based on the famous Madrid zarzuela of the same name.

Displaced by the violence that swept their town, Paloma and Lobo survive trying to love each other. Through thirst, fear and nostalgia, Paloma wishes to go back home but Lobo lives tied to a memory that stops him from returning.

The story unfolds in Bilbao. Rocío (Emma Suárez), is in love with Mario (Antonio Banderas), a free rider with a lot of face that, to top it all, is partner of the business of her father, Domingo (Francisco Rabal) with whom she maintains incestuous relations. When Domingo passes away, both Mario and Rocío's mother have to put to the front of the business, finishing with the inheritance that could receive Rocío. In the midst of her frustration, a young business worker, secretly in love with Rocío, will try to have the legacy of her father end up in the hands of his rightful heiress.

A young woman just released from a mental institution returns home to her mansion and faces a new set of horrors.

A teacher who wanted to become a ballerina came from Skopje to a remote village. She teaches physical education at school and in her free time she gives the girls ballet lessons. Girls created the ballet equipment themselves and are learning the first ballet steps to the sound of the old “La Paloma” record

A reference to the song of the same name, which carries the motif of "La Paloma" (the dove) and can be traced back to an episode that occurred in 492 BC, before Darius' invasion of Greece, a time when the white dove had not yet been seen in Europe.
