Charulata

In 1870s India, Charulata is an isolated, artistically inclined woman who sees little of her busy journalist husband, Bhupati. Realizing that his wife is alienated and unhappy, he convinces his cousin, Amal, to spend time with Charulata and nourish her creative impulses. Amal is a fledgling poet himself, and he and Charulata bond over their shared love of art.

Charulata is a 2013 Indian Bengali film, directed by Biswajit Ghosh and Prasenjit Ghosh and produced by White Horse Picture. The film stars Pritha Sur, Rupam, Subir Sanyal, Sritama Das, Pradip Das, Kamalakanto Dutta and Rupa Guria in lead roles. The music of the film was composed by Ekalabya.

Chaiti is a young beautiful woman and wife of newspaper editor Bikramjit. Bikramjit is a workaholic and always stay busy with his editorial works. In spite of being a highly educated woman, Chaiti has nothing to do and she spends her time with expensive saris, filing nails, watching TV. Thus unhappy with her marriage (lack of physical intimacy with her husband) and after an unfortunate miscarriage Chaiti befriends Amal to find a friendly company.
