From the very beginning, actor Paul Newman captivated the cinema audience with his exceptional azure eyes. The reserved Newman himself finds it trivial and even disturbing that everyone is so taken with his appearance. The actor and director - who has played in more than sixty films and directed twelve of them - prefers to focus on his work and family. And, at least as important, on his philanthropic ventures and political activism.
Dominique Imbert, internationally renowned sculptor and designer, was nearly killed a few days after his birth, burned to death by an accidental overdose of X-rays that left him severely disabled. Burned to a crisp, he has always been viscerally fascinated by fire, and instead of rejecting the forbidden embers, he has devoted his life to exalting the flames. Behind the flames, behind the unwavering success of the creator of Focus fireplaces, his life is a fierce battle against pain and the destiny that was promised to him, a path of rebellion and self-affirmation, an unbridled accession to freedom.
There are certain recurring themes: travel, desolate landscapes (especially in the Vivarais region), love of the cinema, the pleasure of wandering through towns, the side effects of my filming (in this episode, the Diary of Joseph M). We also encounter the same obsessions and concerns: the influence of the seasons, the fascination of faces, the taste for colours, the importance of the memory of places and people.

The doors of the abandoned Raverdy coffee and chicory factory remain closed, just like everything around it. The director – herself a descendant of the Raverdy family (and expecting her first child) – goes in search of the stories behind this sealed-off part of the city. She moves in with her 91-year-old grandmother, who lives over the road. Piece by piece, she is able to reconstruct events leading up to the factory’s closure, using old photos, advertising brochures, myths, language games, conversations with her grandmother and former female factory workers. These memories unfold through different storylines. The factory’s surroundings are explored through a poetic film style, and the history of the nunnery next to the factory is also revealed. This sensitive film is a reflection on the invisible and the forgotten, revolving around women and the changing body.
The film focuses on the story of a shepherd minstrel Hayri Dev from Denizli, Çameli district. He was made known by the French etnomusicologist Jerome Cler. After Cler realized this film in Super-16 in Fall of 1998, together with Gulya Mirzoeva, Dev became so famous as to give concerts and lessons on music in France and he was selected as a Living Human Treasure of Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The story of the film is simple. Hayri Dev decides to go to visit his old friend and a violonist Akkulak, for coming back with him in his village and for bringing back the festivities, weddings of their youth, called 'yarenlik' (from the beautiful Persian Word yar, meaning friend or beloved one). This ended in a small countyman's 'road movie' through magnificent landscapes, sprinkled with episodes reflecting this universe of the 'Western Turkomen".
