Kamal Hachkar explores the 2000-year-old Mellah in his family's village of Tinghir, Morocco, and follows the trail of the town's once substantial Jewish population to its emigres and descendants in Israel. In the film, he weaves back and forth between his city's old Jewish quarter and Israel, where he meets Sephardic Jews who still hold tight to their Moroccan identity. Presents the story of a long-term collaboration between Jews and Muslims that eventually fell apart. As Hachkar tries to understand exactly what happened, he simultaneously seeks a better way forward.

This documentary is the first to directly confront the legacy of the Miike Mine, reviving through eyewitness testimonies a history of struggle lasting 150 years that modern Japan is trying to forget. It took seven years to complete, interviewing over 70 individuals, from the men and women who signed up to do this backbreaking work and lived in pride by the mountain, to the Koreans who were forcibly brought to Japan and made to work down the shaft. The director Hiroko Kumagai hopes that we look at Miike not just to explore the past, but also to think about the future: what it means to work and to live courageously.

Where do the illusions that we can hear come from, and what wonders of technology do people come up with to record them? Musician and composer Tigran Paravyan, who faced these questions while studying at the Faculty of Sound Research at New York University, studies the possibilities and features of non-standard microphones and acoustics of different spaces. In the film, he travels to unusual places in Armenia, from medieval monasteries to abandoned concert halls, sings and captures songs and sounds of places using experimental sound recording methods.
