In 2002, 20,000 members of the public cast their vote on what they saw as the locations everyone should visit at least once. The result is a definitive wishlist of global hotspots, presented by Craig Doyle. In addition to the top 50, four viewers file a report from their favourite place.
In Jerusalem, between the west bank and the east bank, lies a promenade which serves as a border line between the Jewish neighborhoods and the Palestinian ones. To the wanderers on both sides, the view posed along its length is a view of the conflict (from the separation wall, through the Palestinian neighborhoods and reaching the Temple Mount). Turning back to the landscape, and observing the Israeli people overlooking it, the film turns the promenade into a "canvas" on which the Israelis celebrate its confused identity - between the day-to-day and the national holidays, between the flowers and the memorial monuments.

Sarajevo during the siege in 1992: A group of armed men walks along the banks of the river Miljacka. One man is led away, and the group crosses the river. The neighbouring Grbavica district is about to be taken by the Serbs. The footage was shot by a man from an apartment in an adjacent skyscraper without knowing who the armed men were. Are they Serbs, Bosniaks? His camera wobbles, searches, pursues and retreats. The artist Clarissa Thieme finds the man who shot the film and has him once again recount how it happened.
50 Films to See Before You Die was a television programme first shown on Channel 4 on Saturday 22 July 2006, to celebrate the relaunch of Film4 as a free-to-air TV channel available to digital terrestrial homes in the United Kingdom. It consisted of a list of 50 films compiled by film critics, experts and personalities. Each film was "chosen as a paragon of a particular genre or style". Apocalypse Now was chosen as the #1 film.
Recent movies dominate the list: nine are from the 2000s, twelve from the 1990s, nine from the 1980s, nine from the 1970s, and only eleven movies from all the years prior to 1970.
Three of the 50 films on the list were produced or distributed by Channel 4's own Film4 Productions – Trainspotting, Secrets & Lies and Sexy Beast.
