Le Marchand De Sable

Marked by years of prison, Djo, a parcel delivery man in the Paris suburbs, lives modestly with his mother and daughter. One day, an aunt who has just fled the Ivorian conflict arrives at their home with her three children. In a hurry, Djo manages to find them a place to live. But faced with the growing demand and with the prospect of offering a decent life to his daughter, Djo switches and becomes a sleep merchant.

A rich merchant, Antonio is depressed for no good reason, until his good friend Bassanio comes to tell him how he's in love with Portia. Portia's father has died and left a very strange will: only the man that picks the correct casket out of three (silver, gold, and lead) can marry her. Bassanio, unfortunately, is strapped for cash with which to go wooing, and Antonio wants to help, so Antonio borrows the money from Shylock, the money-lender. But Shylock has been nursing a grudge against Antonio's insults, and makes unusual terms to the loan. And when Antonio's business fails, those terms threaten his life, and it's up to Bassanio and Portia to save him.

The wonder of Chritmas lights the world when kindhearted Sandman uses his magic sand to make toys come alive. One little doll named April gets sprinkled and is delighted that she can now talk, walk and sing. She takes off for an adventure into the real world, only to find that not everyone is as nice as the Sandman, especially the clumsy grinch, Bootlace, who wants to capture her and all the other real toys to sell to the highest bidder. But it is Christmas Eve, a time for miracles, and April and the Sandman are about to save the toys and make children's dreams come true.

Each night, like every other child in the world, Miko goes to Dreamland thanks to magic sand dispersed by the Sandman. But one night, the evil dream Habumar steals the Sand of Dreams and takes control of Dreamland. The Sandman and his faithful sheep Neopomuk ask Miko to help them get back the precious sand, and to hence foil the plans of terrifying Habumar. So begins a great adventure in a world where all is possible.

Set in 1912, inside a dive bar named The Last Chance Saloon, its destitute patrons eagerly await the arrival of Hickey, who arrives annually and props everyone up with free drinks and spirited stories of his travels. However, when Hickey does show up this year, it is with a message of temperance and an exhortation to give up hopeless dreams and face reality.

Hans is a street fruit peddler and born-loser. His choice of career upsets his bourgeois family, causing him to turn to drinking and violence. After recovering from a debilitating heart attack, his business finally begins to take off. However the more he becomes a credit to his family, the more depressed he becomes.

Nilus the Sandman was a Canadian part-animated and part-live action television series that originally aired on 1996 on the Family Channel. The series was produced by Western International Communications. The show features a sandman, Nilus, who helps children and teenagers through their dreams while they are asleep, with the dream stories being animated. The parts at the beginning and the end of the series are shot in live action in Vancouver, British Columbia. 26 episode
