Sophie de Réan, an unruly mischievous little girl grows up under the thumb of Mademoiselle, her strict governess. Following her mother's death, she is entrusted to Mme de Fleurville, her aunt, who at the same time hires Mademoiselle to further Sophie's education. A few years later, the little girl has blossomed into a lovely young lady. She is now in love with Paul, her cousin, who, unlike her, used to be a model child. Not being one of the victors, Paul is forced into exile. Will Sophie finally yield and accept the established order or will she react in her usual rebellious way and follow the one she loves ?

"Les Malheurs d'Émile Cohl" shows the ravages of time on the copy of the film "Les Chapeaux des belles dames" which Émile Cohl shot in 1909. Slowing down the most damaged parts of the film from the father of the animation, Gérard Courant has succeeded in creating an object with abstract shapes and, paradoxically, in giving another life to Cohl's work." --Courant
Sophie is a little girl, naiver than nasty; sometimes abetted by her cousin Paul, she always gets into mischief, although the boy is much wiser than she is. Her best friends , Camille and Madeleine are so virtuous that Sophie's behavior doesn't compare favorably with theirs. In the castle where she lives with a rather severe mother (and a father very often gone to Paris), not a day goes by without she getting up to mischief.
Little Sophie is very mischievous and naughty. With her best friends Paul and Madeleine, she is constantly inventing new games that lead to new problems every time. Her rich imagination often plays tricks on her.
"The Misfortunes of Paul Cadéac" shows the ravages of time on a copy of the film "Quai des blondes", the only realization that Paul Cadéac shot in 1954. By isolating and slowing down the most damaged photograms of the French producer's film, I managed to create an object with abstract shapes and, insidiously, to give another life to a leading artistic work. Gérard Courant

In the end, he misses his train and returns home...only to find burglars in his home and the pair tie him up. What could possibly happen next??
