It took the letter 28 years to arrive from Berlin, East Germany to Tel-Aviv, Israel. But what troubles Menachem is the content of the letter. He's afraid to find out what the brother he lost contact with 40 years ago may have written in it. With the help of Moshe, his neighbor, Menachem dares to confront a secret that's been haunting him since his adolescence, a secret born out of a decision made during the dark days of the Second World War. That decision changed his life and now Menachem finds that an even more difficult one lies ahead.

This is a film about two women. Both have lost their loved ones. One in the Great Patriotic War, the other in the Afghan War. Each fate released only a few days of happiness. But both carried their love and loyalty through life. Together with them, we reread letters from the front and relive the happiness of love and the bitterness of loss.

Commissioned for S-AIR’s 2020 residency programme, Letter from Sapporo (2021) is a collage film offering a glimpse of daily life in the Japanese city of Sapporo. With the German Occupation in Greece (1941-1944) as a background, this film tells the love story between my father, an assistant professor at the mysterious German Scientific Institute of Athens - financed by the occupying power, Germany, but in reality a refuge for resistant students - and Nelly, a young student in Fine Arts. The film also traces the portrait of their friend Rudolf Fahrner, founder of the Institute, comrade of the Stauffenberg Brothers and one of the few conspirators of the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler, on 20 July 1944, that survived the repression that followed.

Letter from Tokyo is a documentary film that looks at art, culture and politics in Tokyo, Japan. Shot over three months during the summer of 2018, and with a particular focus on grass roots arts initiatives, the use of public space, and queer politics, the film provides a snapshot of Japan’s capital in the run up to the 2020 olympics.

Letters from a distance documents a communication exercise thought out by healthcare workers from a public hospital in Mexico City to help with the distance between COVID-19 patients and their family members through letters, that eventually turn into video messages or photographs during the peak of the pandemic giving people hope and certainty. It is also a voyage through the lives of mexican families who faced the most painful pandemic, due to their social, economic and political contexts while being moved by hope and love.
