Founded 15 years ago in Jacarezinho - one of the biggest favelas in Rio de Janeiro - Jacaré Moda is a modeling agency that is transforming the Brazilian fashion industry by challenging standards and norms, and bringing young people of peripheries to fashion. This film tells the story of three models from Jacaré Moda: Caio, Camila, and Natália. Often discriminated against for their backgrounds, they looked to fashion as a way to learn, rediscover their self-esteem, develop their talent and originality. Through their stories they express themselves as a force of change and as individuals who resist the idea that favelas are only a place of poverty and violence.

Suggestion of Least Resistance is based on archive materials which depict The July Revolt of 1927 (Der Brand des Wiener Justizpalastes), a monumental episode still acutely relevant. The animation film is a rhythmic, poetic surge, comparing us, our lives, and our very humanness to burning paper in the breeze. Images of sheets of paper flying through the broken windows of the burning palace are juxtaposed with images of the crowds as they convene and disperse. The music charges these powerful images with its own aliveness and colour.
The origins and evolution of the Innu Nikamu Music and Aboriginal Arts Festival are intimately linked to the territorial roots of the Innu people and to the life of the Maliotenam Reserve community. For centuries past the Innu had followed a seasonal migration cycle, wintering in the northern territories for the caribou hunt and returning every summer to the north shore of the St-Lawrence. Festivities, meetings, traditional games and weddings marked the latter period, and the Festival has become the modern day reincarnation of the ancient summer celebration.

A look at the Pacifying Police Units (UPPs) in Rio de Janeiro through politicized speeches by artists from some locals communities. With music and performances thematizing social exclusion and police violence, these artists discuss the rhetoric of peace and question to what extent the arrival of the UPP does not represent an intensification of the criminalization of poverty.
Funnyman Orny Adams's debut stand-up film features riffs on phone sex, kids with guns, strong women and hair loss in this hysterical performance recorded at Pasadena, California's famed Ice House Comedy Club. The comic has never held a 9-to-5 job, and this show demonstrates why the corporate world is exactly the wrong place for him. Bonus footage includes clips of Adams struggling to entertain a crowd of non-English speakers in Fiji.
This is a media-fashioned attack aimed at the disturbing omnipotence of hyperrealism and fascist banality – best symbolised by Donald Trump’s burning latex effigy.

A profile of a grassroots anti-war group in Boston, this short film documents some of the tactics and activities used by draft resistance groups across the country during the Vietnam War. Using the law to keep young men out of the war, this group helped over 150 people each week escape service and educate themselves and their communities about alternatives to combat.
Ten years after Mondovino, his analysis of the increasingly standardised wine production in France, wine expert Jonathan Nossiter picks up the thread again and shows what it means to be rooted in the soil you're working on. During walks through the vineyards and relaxed gatherings with a group of alternative Italian wine growers, he trades experiences and arguments. What looks like a bucolic paradise, where intelligent people produce wine according to time-honoured and organic methods, is actually revealed to be a battleground. The DOC association, which is supposed to look after the interest of independent vintners, promotes winemakers who produce vast amounts in a standardised quality; and the agricultural industry with its hygiene regulations excludes traditional methods of production. The only thing saving the landscape from being totally destroyed is affluent foreigners using the old vineyards as summer holiday homes.
