The real life story of Henri Alleg, a French-Algerian journalist, director of the "Alger républicain" newspaper, and a member of the French Communist Party. This is a film as Alleg revisits Algeria in 2003 after he was arrested on suspicion of undermining the power of the state by France's 10th Paratrooper Division in the home of his friend, mathematics professor Maurice Audin, who was arrested the day before and would later die under questionable circumstances while imprisoned. Montreal was initially the dream of people who believed in the possibility of creating a better world in New France. Who were those people? Which ideal did they pursue, and why? The answers can be found in a 17th century manuscript, allegedly the hidden memoir of Jeanne Mance. The filmmaker revisits this story in an original, personal way, highlighting how the past echoes the still current yearning to create a world with more humanistic values. —Annabel Loyola
Because they could no longer stand the xenophobic comments and behavior of their neighbors, Véronique and Sylvain Marchand, parents of a little girl and members of the Stop Racism organization, went into exile in a quiet suburban town, where they bought a house, the villa "Mon rêve". Soon after, the Dialo family, friendly Africans, moved into the adjoining house. At first, the two families get along perfectly. The only problem was that the Dialos organized many parties, which often ended late at night. The patience and understanding of the Marchands only delay the inevitable conflict.
Not a sound, only landscapes, raw sounds... Some births and deaths of bees... Traveling from one to another space, a man looks at them, dreams of them... Sometimes, he remembers his joyful youth. The first feature by editor Catherine Legault, SISTERS: DREAM & VARIATIONS invites us to discover the creative and personal worlds of two distinctive Montreal artists. Tyr and Jasa have Icelandic roots, and they’ve always been artists at heart. Having become a musician and an interdisciplinary artist respectively, they have developed artistic practices that draw on their colourful imaginations and family roots, including the use of audio recordings of their Icelandic great-grandmother. In a symbiotic relationship with its protagonists’ creativity, the film includes animations and performances in order to do justice to Tyr and Jasa’s artistic approach and particular identity, deftly combining reality and dreams.

Neither a fiction nor a documentary, it is a film-dance. Not a narrative, but a journey through the Villeneuve area of Grenoble. No characters, but energies, encounters. The body of a dancer in the city. An essay of re-enchantment.
Colette Aboulker Muscat has taught Waking Dream for the past forty years in Jerusalem. To each person who comes for a consultation, she offers a short story leading to a waking dream, equal in intensity to a night dream. The surprise provoked by the story, and the shortness of the treatment are, for her, essential aspects of the process. The mental imagery itself allows one to overcome a problem or an illness.
This is a short film about Alice Guy-Blaché, the first female director of fiction in cinema history. Alice Guy was Léon Gaumont's secretary at the beginning of the last century and she was the first woman to ever direct actors in front of the camera. In 1895, the Lumière brothers introduced to the world the "Cinématographe", the first camera. Léon Gaumont decided to sell this revolutionary new device. Fascinated, Alice asked her boss for permission to use the camera to make her own films. Mr. Gaumont agreed only under the condition that she “would be able to keep up with her mail.” This short film is a poetic reverie that Alice Guy might have had in her time if only society at the time hadn't presented her with so many challenges.
