Sea Waves

On a full moon night, the young Najwa and the musician Mansour reach Beirut. They follow the trail of smugglers to join a woman on the other side of the sea. A few streets away, Selim, the old lighthouse keeper, tries to repair the electricity of his neighborhood.

Our vagabond hero dons a lifeguard's uniform and madcap antics ensue on the beach, and in the changing stalls!

Like a Wave in the Sea

The life story of Hüseyin Kızılırmak, born in Kasımpaşa, Istanbul... Hüseyin Kızılırmak, a free-spirited, adventurous man who lived on the fishing boat named Kızıl since his 20s and survived until the age of 80 by selling the fish he caught, told us about his life in the most natural way. He died of cancer shortly after the completion of the documentary.

The surf pounds against a breakwater on which are visible several people standing. The wall looks to be about 20 feet above sea level and extend at least 100 feet into the water. A large wave rolls picturesquely along the wall toward the shore. Smaller waves follow. Then the scene changes to river water flowing. We see both shores: in the foreground a log and tree branch are visible; on the far shore, there appears to be a low wall with trees beyond it. The camera is stationary in both shots.

At Kichijōji Station, Tokyo, Taku Morisaki glimpses a familiar woman on the platform opposite boarding a train. Later, her photo falls from a shelf as he exits his apartment before flying to Kōchi Prefecture. Picking it up, he looks at it briefly before leaving. As the aeroplane takes off, he narrates the events that brought her into his life...

The Sunshine Sea is a surfing film about the changes that have raised the art of surfing from the limitations of the past to the free and easy harmony of the 1970s.

Foaming sea breaks over rocks and a sea wall in what is believed to be Ilfracombe, on the North Devon coast. The study of waves breaking was a popular subject in early moving pictures, and was filmed here by Charles Goodwin Norton to embellish his magic lantern slide shows.
