Only twenty-five years ago, the first evidence of self-medicating behaviour among animals was reported among chimpanzees. On the basis of this pioneering research, led by the American Michael Huffman, a new science was founded: "zoopharmacognosy", or the study of animal pharmacopeia. Animals are apparently able to treat themselves actively, to detect natural substances that can provide a remedy for health problems, or to prevent them. The primatologist Michael Huffman explains how he discovered that chimpanzees can heal their diseases with medicinal plants from their environment. The scientist then comments on other very surprising examples: Birds that disinfect their nests by filling them with aromatic plants with repellent properties, a rodent that covers its coat with toxic sap as a poisonous defence against predators and elephants that place mud plasters on their injuries. Some therapeutic behaviours may even be transmitted socially among certain species.
Since many years the jungle-animals have been living together peacefully. Of course there had been fights, but the strong and intelligent Lion King always managed to settle them. The Panther however had been envious on the power of the king for a long time. When the lioness got a baby and the lion did not worry so much about the animals, the Panther instigated the animals against their king. The Lion and his family were brought out of the jungle and the Panther ruled like a tyrant. The lion baby grew up far away from his homeland. One day he heard from the birds, how much the animals in the jungle had suffered from the Panther’s cruelty. He started thinking, how to help the animals.

Her letters talk about her travels and the long healing process after the Egyptian revolution. By the year 2078, all animal species from the rain forest had become extinct. Only genetic samples of such species remained, stored and patented by big commercial Labs. Aiming at preserving this genetic material near its natural habitat, these Labs created a controversial project, "Zootizens", implanting such genes in the bodies of Central American citizens who were willing to be host organisms in exchange of a package of social benefits. The animation shows, documentary-style, interviews with such hybrid citizens (a Sloth, a Tapir, a forest Frog and a Glyptodon) as they tell the ups and downs of their experiences with the project.
