This nostalgic retrospective with colleagues and friends of the Beatles fondly recalls Paul McCartney's simple plan for the "Magical Mystery Tour" movie: to let assorted odd characters climb aboard a bus, then film their adventures. The 1967 movie was a cinematic flop, but Keith McCartney (Paul's brother) and other insiders reveal the excitement and camaraderie in those salad days before tensions within the Fab Four began to split them apart.
The Beatles’ first US concert was watched by a crowd of 8,092 fans at the Washington Coliseum in Washington, DC. The band had traveled from New York to Washington, DC early in the day by rail, as an East Coast snowstorm had caused all flights to be cancelled. The Beatles took to the stage at 8.31pm, and performed 12 songs: ‘Roll Over Beethoven’, ‘From Me To You’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, ‘This Boy’, ‘All My Loving’, ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’, ‘Please Please Me’, ‘Till There Was You’, ‘She Loves You’, ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’, ‘Twist And Shout’ and ‘Long Tall Sally’.
Follow the world's most influential rock 'n' roll band, the Beatles, with this documentary that traces their journey through behind-the-scenes glimpses at the lives of John, Paul, George and Ringo. From their early nightclub gigs and first U.S. tour to the breakup of the band and the deaths of John Lennon and George Harrison, the film provides a comprehensive portrait of the Fab Four, their music and their legacy.
Although there was some ‘new’ colour footage from this gig in ‘The Beatles Eight Day’s a Week – the touring years, I think it was a missed opportunity not having more from this amazing show from Melbourne in 1964. The scenes in Australia were if anything more riotous than in the US. When the Beatles arrived in Adelaide, something like half the population lined a motorcade from the airport to their hotel! I think this is one of the best filmed Beatles performances. Unlike Shea, the sound has not been ‘doctored’ – ie there have been no overdubs made, yet the Beatles sound great! For me, You Can’t Do That and Long Tall Sally are the stand out songs. I especially love the end of Long Tall Sally, when a guy looking exactly like John Lennon, manages to get on stage, and shakes John’s hand in the middle of the song!! Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we will get an official DVD of The Beatles full concert performances. If we do, this show must be included.
A ride based on the film Yellow Submarine (1968), in which the viewers/passengers travel in the yellow submarine to save Pepperland from the Blue Meanies.
"The Beatles at their Best" is the true story of the early years of the Beatles, the most successful musical group in history. Get reintroduced to the Beatles at the time they were at their best, a time when the groups most popular member wasn't John, Paul, George or Ringo. The Best family home gave birth to the group and Pete Best's 'Atom Beat' became the new Liverpool sound.
The Fab Four's early, innocent years are remembered in this fascinating look at the Hamburg Star Club era of the famous band. Former Beatles manager Allan Williams, Star Club manager Horst Fascher and Tony Sheridan (who performed with The Beatles in Germany and was instrumental in getting Ringo into the band after Pete Best was fired) are interviewed … and the fascinating anecdotes flow as freely as the music.
In the late '50s, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Richard Starkey were just four Liverpudlian teenagers who decided to play music. With no formal training and no ability to read or write music, they tried to emulate their American rock heroes. Within a few years, they would change music history (and the world) forever. Scott Freiman traces the birth of the Beatles from their days as the Quarrymen to their first visit to EMI Studios and the recording of “Love Me Do.”

Produced in 1993, The Grand Delusion is one of our most completely realized works. In addition to taking the usual form of a Tape-beatles release (a CD), The Grand Delusion was also delivered in the form of an ‘expanded cinema’ presentation involving three-screen motion picture projections and sound. The screen space for this production is intended to be three times the width of the normal 3 to 4 "Edison" aspect ratio of 16mm. The presentation only uses the full width intermittently, so transitions from one form to the next has been translated here by means of a video effect. As a live performance presentation, The Grand Delusion has been screened in dozens of venues across North America and Europe.
On October 5th 1962, the Beatles released their first single, Love Me Do. It was a moment that changed music history and popular culture forever. It was also an extraordinary year in social and cultural history, not just for Liverpool but for the world, with the Cuban missile crisis, John Glenn in space and beer at a shilling a pint. Stuart Maconie explores how the Beatles changed from leather and slicked back hair to suits and Beatle mops, and how their fashion set the pace for the sixties to follow. Pop artist Sir Peter Blake, Bob Harris and former Beatles drummer Pete Best join friends to reflect on how the Beatles evolved into John, Paul, George and Ringo - the most famous band in the world.
