Machover and Fruchter's intimate documentary follows the trials and tribulations of a group of Students for a Democratic Society militants in their attempt to politicize and organize the people of Newark, New Jersey. For Amos Vogel, Troublemakers was one of the best films of the New Left because it eschewed "both clichés and propaganda" in favor of "honesty" and "careful exploration." A must watch both for activists and political documentarians. (Doc Films)

Szeto Ginyi is a young businessman recently returned to Hong Kong to open a branch of a Japanese company. He's been living in a hotel. To save money, he rents from the loquacious Baby - paying three months' rent and a hefty deposit - to share a flat with a lovely unemployed fashion designer, Miss Clary. Clary and Ginyi seem to hit it off, as friends, and he hires her to do the cooking and cleaning while she looks for work. Odd things begin happening, especially late at night: is a ghost on the loose, is Clary possessed, or does the house have a bloody history? Ginyi seeks answers from Keung, a local security guard. The Troublemakers follows the lives of four down-on-their-luck characters. Surrounded by the vestiges of conspicuous consumption, they struggle to survive outside of society, fashioning their own aesthetics of poverty and devising strategies to navigate a surveillance society, evading or performing for cameras everywhere.

The titular troublemakers are the New York–based Land (aka Earth) artists of the 1960s and 70s, who walked away from the reproducible and the commodifiable, migrated to the American Southwest, worked with earth and light and seemingly limitless space, and rethought the question of scale and the relationships between artist, landscape, and viewer. Director James Crump has meticulously constructed Troublemakers from interviews (with Germano Celant, Virginia Dwan, and others), photos and footage of Walter De Maria, Michael Heizer, Robert Smithson, Nancy Holt, and Charles Ross among others at work on their astonishing creations.

Compared to other students (mostly Muscovites and residents of other big cities), this guy from the province stands out sharply — both in manners, in reprimand, and in behavior. Accustomed to defend their principles to the end of Gorokhov was called Balamut (Troublemaker). Nevertheless, in the student community, he quickly mastered and became a leader. Everything would be fine, but he has two problems — unrequited love for the dark-skinned beauty from Cuba and English...

Mido studies at the Technical College, and in his spare time, he works in installing satellite dishes. His constant fall into troubles earned him the title 'Mido the troublemaker' but the gravest of his troubles is when a mysterious man approaches him for a secret mission.
