A short film featuring a striking and colourful array of characters and scenes that were shot over the course of a month-long residency in Georgian Bay, Ontario. From the creases of this rich textured landscape, comes a visceral and dynamic discourse on gender and sexuality. Charged with both the beauty, and the darkness surrounding LGBTQ+ history, this work leans into both subtlety and absurdity in its effort to explore the multiplicity and subjectivity of Queer identities through embodied expression.
The director of the film suffers from a vertigo attack in a hot air balloon. From that point on, an investigation begins in which he delves into his personal universe to try to understand his new phobia.
"8mm Vertigo" is produced by taking a 7 second segment from Alfred Hitchcock’s film "Vertigo," which is then put on a permanent repeat by using a smart phone application called "8mm." The image created by this app gives a nostalgic touch of the old-film like texture. Despite the nostalgic feel, this is the result of an artificially made virtual world created by the smart phone – a high-tech device.
The Salto Ángel, falling from the summit of an extraordinary sandstone highland standing out in the Amazon rain forest, reaches the ground after a 1,000-meter drop: it is the highest waterfall in the world. An international team, made up of some of the best climbers in the world, attempts this ascent. After a long journey in their canoes along the jungle river, their project takes them to live on the wall for a fortnight, in very bad and dangerous conditions. Heavy floods, constant humidity, food rationing, technical difficulties as well as the hardest mental and physical effort seem to place the ascent beyond their possibilities.

In Vertigo (1958) the characters are driving through San Francisco. A man is following a woman searching her non-existing past. With Google Streetview I was able to recreate the character's journey. I re-shoot Vertigo, at home.
For two weeks in 2006, the quiet town of Villeneuve by Lake Geneva went crazy for hang-gliding, when the best aerobats in the world turned up, took off and spun out.
A subjective documentary, a real logbook that follows the philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy in the U.S.A.
Johann Lurf's critical examination of the special effect of the "dolly zoom" - first used by Hitchcock in Vertigo - becomes a declaration of love to film and the richness of the cinematic language.
