Ugo Zatterin (15 October 1920 – 17 July 2000) was an Italian journalist. In 1957 he began working for Rai Teche as a political commentator. However, the investigations he carried out for Rai such as “La donna che lavora”, “Salute under investigation”, “L'industria dei calciatori”, “Viaggio nell'Italia che cambia”, are of historical value today because they photograph the critical issues and social developments of Italy in the 60s, at the dawn of the economic boom. By 1959, his video investigations had developed over eight episodes. “La donna che lavoro” is dedicated to the labourers of the south.

Die Wunder des Films is one of several German films from the 1920s that thematized filmmaking through the re-use of existing archival footage. Other titles include Friedrich Porges’s Der Film im Film from 1924 and the Ufa production Henny Porten. Leben und Laufbahn einer Filmkünstlerin (Henny Porten: Life and Career of a Film Artist) from 1928. These were often classified as “cross-section films” (Querschnittsfilme), because they presented viewers with significant samples (i.e., a cross-section) of a given sector of contemporary film production. But Die Wunder des Films is unique in its focus on Kulturfilm – scientific, educational, and promotional film – rather than the entertainment industry and its stars. The film’s director, Edgar Beyfuß (1893-1936), was not only a producer of Kulturfilms, but also a prolific writer and lecturer on the topic, who edited the monumental Kulturfilmbuch of 1924.

In his short film series ‘24 portraits’, Alain Cavalier records women who have dedicated their lives to manual work, collecting images and testimonies from a world of work in danger of extinction through close-ups of faces, hands, gestures and objects. The short takes up the idea of the registration of manual work and its representation, but within artistic production. Here we can see the actions, methods and ways of seeing of Ana, an artist who is in the initial moment of creating new works.

Once an industrial centre at the junction of Roubaix and Tourcoing, the Union area is undergoing radical change as a result of an ambitious urban renewal project. Everything has been demolished, with the exception of "Chez Salah", a café that opened in 1965 and is the ultimate relic of a district inhabited mainly by workers. Its owner, Salah Oudjane, refuses to sell the worn-out two-storey building where he has spent most of his life. In spite of himself, he has become a symbol of resistance to gentrification (the renovation of a working-class neighbourhood for the benefit of wealthier social classes), and is the unlikely hero of this chronicle in which, as the seasons go by, we see bulldozers clearing the area around his café, which stands like a beacon whose glow seems to attract former residents of the district.
The film seeks to address the risks that Ziraldo's work takes. In a building abandoned ten years ago, the cartoonist's "Santa Ceia", a six-meter-high work painted in 1967, is far from the public and subject to the effects of time
Clips and interviews show that the renowned Satyajit Ray was more than just a filmmaker: He was a sketch illustrator, a music composer, a children's book creator, an all around intellectual.
The desire to grow closer to yourself will lead you to disappear. The simple desire to get a closer look at yourself makes you see yourself disappear. The possibilities of recording are limited.

From 1977 to 1991 an image of Slovenia as a green, demilitarised and peaceful country of diligent people reigned in Yugoslavia, a country where differences are not only allowed, but also desired. This period ends with a ten-day war, when the identity turns from peacefulness, modesty and diligence into courage and a fighting spirit. The film documents the changes in Slovenia and its inhabitants, which have in recent years brought us to a completely different understanding of national identity, different from the one which was true in Slovenia as well as abroad twenty years ago.
