British director Phelim McDermott offers the audience a new take on the culture of the people of Ancient Egypt in Aida, one that allows us also to question the world in which we live. This new perspective entails a number of bold creative choices that do not make use of the traditional staging imagery associated with Aida. Aida’s command to Radames — “Ritorna vincitor!” — comes at a price. The triumphal march of the victorious Egyptians is a procession for the coffins of the heroes fallen in battle, the chorus are their grieving kinsfolk. McDermott’s staging resonates keenly with the images of so many civilian and military funerals that crowd our newsfeeds. Here is a triumphal march that does not seek to hide the true, lethal and disastrous nature of war, whatever side you are on.
A screenwriter is haunted by the very thing he created in his stories, an evil doll by the name of Genevieve.
Lost in a forest, a prince meets a mysterious woman and takes her home to a dark castle haunted by repressed longings. There she grows fonder of her new husband's half-brother, sparking a fatal love triangle between the three of them. In a perfect synergy of the arts, choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet, together with the legendary performance artist Marina Abramovic, stage Pelléas et Mélisande as a cosmic dream. Like Debussy through his impressionistic music, the performers and creators of this production dispense with any illustration and instead bring out the hidden emotions of the characters.
Clark Terry All Stars Band - New Morning Jazz Blues Festival Geneve
Archie Shepp needs no introductions: he is one of the greatest African American saxophonists and one of the last living "giants" of 20th century jazz ! For some thirty years now he has divided his time between Europe and the University of Massachusetts, where he teaches music history. After having, in the wake of Cecil Taylor and John Coltrane, been one of the driving forces of New York avant-garde jazz in the 1960s, Archie has traveled back to the musical roots of his people: the blues. Today, both as an instrumentalist and singer, he is one of the most irresistible interpreters of the genre. In 1978, it was he who inaugurated the big stage of the New Morning in Geneva; at exactly the place where we taped him, in August 1994, with the late master pianist Horace Parlan, Wayne Dockery and Steve McCraven.
In August 1994, Randy Brecker and his sidekicks Niels Lan Doky, Alvin Queen and Pierre Boussaguet gave a memorable concert at the New Morning Jazz Festival in Geneva. At that time, just about everything had already been said about Brecker's trumpeting skills and projects. He joined Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1966, then moved on to Horace Silver's Quintet for 3 years. Later, he and his brother formed the mythical Brecker Brothers who presented the fusion between Jazz and Rock during the eighties. The many thousands of fans of this irresistibly charming introvert still remember the precise, powerful and soft sound of Brecker's superb improvisations. This DVD is a prime example of his talent.
The biggest town problem is worrying whether the high school basketball team will win the championship...until racketeers move into town and the kids begin to bet on horses, become overly fond of stripped-down racing cars, and Genevieve Rogers (Jean Porter) suspects her father of being too fond of the school principal's secretary. Town nerd Bill Kennedy (Jimmy Lydon) invents a new fuel amidst rumors that - horrors - the basketball game might be fixed. River City is not the only town that has trouble starting with a "T" and there's not a pool hall in sight.
Dramatization of the popular song.

Louis is a patriarch, gatekeeper, and taxonomist, steeped in a tradition of measurement and naming. The eponymous chevaliere is portrayed collectively by Charlie, Lu, and Andrea, young adults who are under Louis’s watch. They feel themselves limited by his expectations, and are bound to the structure of the Estate. This is a film about leaving home.
