In 2018, a user called AnathematicAnarchist published a suicide note in an online forum for incels – a subculture of heterosexual men whose self-pity, misogyny and fantasies of violence dominate the internet in many places and trigger offline actions in some. Did he really take his own life? Is America responsible for his death, as he claims in his text? A search for clues in the darkest corners of the net, an essay about pain and loneliness in the age of algorithms.

Based on a notorious novel by Louis Calaferte, this erotic drama concerns a man exploring the boundaries of female sexuality through a variety of sexual encounters with beautiful women he barely knows. La Mecanique des Femmes features copious male and female nudity as the nameless leading character discusses sex and sensuality with his predominantly female supporting cast.

At first, there are a wrecked father and a daughter who wants to fix him. A cat falls from the 8th floor and becomes paraplegic. A medical experiment gathering 12 paralyzed people in China. A car accident in Italy. And then, La Mécanique des choses gathered everything in a journey, to fix the irreparable.

On a few key sites of the migratory routes of Europe, voices, faces, bodies and landscape tell the violence hidden beyond the euphemism of "control of flows". A violence exerted on men, women and children which reveals one of the faces of today's Europe.

'here is a short clip i did last year, using footage that i shot during the 2012 olympic games. At first it was supposed to be part of a very long video (8h+) ; but then i decided to extract it as an autonomous part. Not much to say here, i'm using a song from the band Au Bordel, one of Noel Akchoté' many projects. the title is the same as Calaferte' book, but it has to be taken as its litteral meaning (well, you can try to find a relation with Calaferte' book but it was no intentional)).'
